The art of tie tying is not mastered by all, though EVERYONE can tie a tie. It's just that it takes some practice to be able to tie a tie well. Tie tying is a skill that must certainly be mastered if one intends to wear ties on a regular basis. You cannot afford to be sloppy when tying a tie, unless you are purposefully going for a sloppy look (though every few people can pull this off) which is why for the most part it is very important to be neat with your tie tying. Crooked ties tend to be very distracting to some people, and if your tie gets more attention than you do, then it's not a very good thing.
One thing that you must remember in tie tying is that you should succeed in having the knot of your tie directly at the center of the collar; whether you choose to wear the tie loosely or tightly is moot at this point. Another thing that must be remembered is that all proper tie knots (applied to a neck tie) should create a neat “dimple” right below the knot. Also, when bow tie tying, either side of the bow must be a reflection of the other side.
In this section of the site, we will provide you with instructions on the basics of tie tying (neck tie and bow tie). The instructions will include diagrams for your convenience. At the moment, there is nothing up here, but we promise to update soon.
